Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor – Economy Hustings

On 6 May, Liverpool City Region goes to the polls for the second time to choose a metro mayor with powers over transport, planning and skills. The elected metro mayor sets out and implements a strategic vision for the economy of the metro area, supporting people, firms and institutions.

As the campaign for the election gains momentum, Centre for Cities and the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce are hosting a hustings for candidates to set out their plans to respond to the pandemic and their recovery strategy for the region with particular reference to infrastructure, innovation and business.

Confirmed candidates in the mayoral elections:

  • Gary Cargill, Green Party candidate (invited)
  • Jade Marsden, Conservative Party candidate (confirmed)
  • David Newman, Liberal Democrats Party candidate (invited)
  • Steve Rotheram, Labour Party candidate (confirmed)

The discussion will be chaired by Andrew Carter, Chief Executive of Centre for Cites.
